Possible Facebook blunder
by exwhyzee inso i made a couple of comments on my older brother's fb and i think i might have gone too far.. a little background.
my brother is a pretty popular guy... i am about a year younger than him and although we currently live on opposite coasts of the us., i know most of his jw friends.
he has about 600 fb friends and is on his page daily making announcements on there as if he's ashton kutcher talking to his fans....or something.

Climate change and rising sea levels is not speculation for the inhabitants of Kiribati.
http://www.climate.gov.ki/Climate_change_effects_in_Kiribati.html
There is a tendency in much of the world to view climate change as a slow and gradual process where the harmful effects will be able to prevented before they occur. What is happening in Kiribati is evidence to the contrary. Kiribati is "like the canary in the coal mine in terms of the dramatic impact of climate change on a whole civilization of people,” says Harvard University biological oceanographer James J. McCarthy. “They didn't cause the problem, but they are among the first to feel it."

Sometimes I wondered if anyone would talk to me after the meeting. Sometimes no one did. Not funny but true.
I always seemed to be going up to ppl before and after the meetings, but it didn't seem as though anyone came to me. So I decided to do an experiment. One meeting, I stayed in my seat, seeing if anyone would come up to me, or at least say hello when passing by. No one did. I did this on a few occasions with the same results. It helped me leave more quickly than I might have.

The only JW friend I have on my FB list posted a pic of it the other day.
It says:
Basic Emergency Supplies Kit:
Food Supplies for 3-5 days and Fresh Water
First Aid Kit
Candles or Torches
Blankets and Clothing
Advance Medical Directive/Release Card
Personal Medical Supplies
Bible
Personal Identification Papers
Necessary Records/Photos
Notice that the Advance Medical Directive is #6 and the Bible is #8!!!

I actually started READING the bible, not WTS selected verses, but in context.
I did too. And I'd discover verses that were never discussed in the meetings. Things that made me start to go hmmm....

The Russian Orthodox Church is very jealous of any other religion that might take away its members.

Does your heart still race when suddenly coming accross a JW?
by Fernando init did for me even though i eventually walked out on my terms and fully convinced of the apostasy of the watchtower pharisees and sanhedrin (governing body).. initially it was very confusing and bewildering since i was a 3rd generation born-in and the watchtower was the only "reality" i'd known for more than 40 years.. a psychologist diagnosed ptsd (post traumatic stress disorder) and recommended attending a cult conference and workshop for victims of psychological manipulation.
i learnt about "triggers" that cause turmoil and upset whilst one is suffering from ptsd.. for nearly 2 years i could not answer a phone without a minor panic attack.
i could only respond to voicemails.

^^ I like the former job anology.
Although for us with family still in, it's not as easy to walk away when our familes are still working for that company. And the company is spreading lies about the conduct of ex-employees and telling family members not to talk to the ex-employees.
